Valve Accessibility and Exercisings
Every city and municipality water system has valves to regulate, stop or start the flow of water supply lines. Quick accessibility to water valves and hydrants and being able to operate the valves in an emergency – such as water contamination or water line break – and shut them off to stop the flow of water is crucial. Additionally, if a valve is not exercised or used often, corrosion can build up resulting in a stuck valve that is inoperable.
The Vac-Tron FlowMaster 350 vacuum excavation systems can be used to access and hydraulically exercise water valves and hydrants, making sure they will work properly in times of need. Exercising water valves and flushing water hydrants at least once a year will ensure they are readily accessible and working properly.
Valve exercising equipment allows one operator to exercise a water main valve in roughly half the time than manual exercising.
Normally, two operators are required to exercise valves and the
number of valves exercised on a daily basis is limited due to
operator fatigue. A valve exercising machine will reduce staff
hours required to complete this task while increasing productivity.
